Jeff has been working in photography for over 40 years. After studying art at The Museum Art School and Portland State University he joined his father’s commercial photography studio as a photo assistant. Through on the job training and workshops he learned the technical skills of photography, film processing and printing. His passion for learning and experimenting with a multitude of alternative approaches has led him to fine art photography.
The last dozen years the focus has been personal work. Studying 20th century abstractionism and artists such as deKooning, Rauchenburg and David Hockney has created an appetite for more experimentation. Jeff’s latest process has to do with printing on film and applying the film on canvas with acrylics as a bonding agent. Multiple layers of clear acrylic are painted on the image that gives an encaustic feel. The final look is softer and more painterly than the original photograph.
Jeff’s photography has been in several galleries for both solo and group shows. His photography has been published in magazines and newspapers. His work is in private and corporate collections. He has a studio in Portland, Oregon and is represented by Amy Caplan Art Designs.
